Farris: "Vote today, stop federal overreach tomorrow"

Published in Blog on July 17, 2017 by Convention Of States Project

We hope you had a chance to vote in today's midterm elections. We sat down with Michael Farris, co-founder of the Convention of States Project, to get his thoughts on today's vote and where he thinks we should go from here.

"I am voting for candidates who, while not perfect, are the most supportive of the constitutional principles and values I hold," Farris said. "I hope you will too."

"Millions of Americans will go to the polls today and exercise their right to vote, electing candidates to office at every level of government," he continued.

"Unfortunately, no matter who wins today, the United States will still be faced with a government that is out of control, spending beyond its means, regulating how Americans live their lives, and passing laws that run counter to the Constitution."

"I encourage citizens to vote today, but also to continue working with us in the effort call a Convention of States, so we can finally rein in the federal government's power."

Sound like a plan? After you vote today, you have three opportunities tomorrow to help bring about real, lasting change in this country:

1. Sign our petition. This is a great way to let your state legislator know you support the Convention of States option to preserve liberty.

2. Volunteer for your state COS team. Becoming an official member of your state team gives you the opportunity to participate in state events and meetings, and find out the latest news from your state.

3. Apply to be a state leader. As a statewide leader or district captain, you'll be responsible for organizing your friends and neighbors in your state's effort to call a Convention. This is a key role, and we hope you'll considering applying.

Click the links above for more information on each opportunity. Remember: vote today, but prepare for a Convention of States tomorrow.
