Get ready. There might be even more Lois Lerner emails to comb through.
The IRS has just now revealed that Lois Lerner had a second personal email address she used while orchestrating and approving the targeting of conservatives at the IRS. Under the name “Toby Miles,” Lerner received emails at firstname.lastname@example.org in addition to her official work email and a personal email dubbed “Lois Home.”
A former associate of Lerner’s at the IRS says Toby is the name of her dog. Miles is her husband’s last name.
Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, said it was stunning the agency was just now admitting the existence of the address. “It is simply astonishing that years after this scandal erupted we are learning about an account Lois Lerner used that evidently hadn’t been searched.”
Stephen Dinan at the Washington Times also notes,
The use of secret or extra email accounts has bedeviled the Obama administration, which is has tried to fend off a slew of lawsuits involving former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and her top aides, the White House’s top science adviser, top Environmental Protection Agency officials and the IRS.
(Judicial Watch is also suing for Hillary Clinton’s emails — and Judge Emmet Sullivan is overseeing that case too. If he continues the common-sense rulings he’s issued in the IRS case, perhaps we’ll learn more about the former Secretary of State’s secrets too.)
The “Toby Miles” email address had popped up in one record already obtained by the House Ways and Means Committee, because it was copied on an email also sent to Lois Lerner’s official account. But it was never identified as hers until now.
Get ready for another round of searching!
