Americans are flocking to these states with lower taxes

Published in Blog on July 17, 2017 by Convention Of States Project

A new study has found that Americans are flocking to states with low taxes -- and fleeing states with high ones.

South Dakota is America’s No. 1 move-to destination, and its residents enjoy one of the best business tax climates in the country.

New Jersey, on the other hand, saw two people move out of its state for every one person who moved in. New Jersey is also the worst state for businesses, finishing dead last in the Tax Foundation’s business tax index.

The takeaway from this study is simple: Americans flourish best when the government leaves them alone. Without high taxes and overregulation, the American people are free to be creative, industrious, and prosperous.

This is true on the state level, but it also applies to the national government. The federal government is constantly seeking new ways to tax its citizens and impose its will on the American people. This kind of heavy-handed mentality does nothing but stifle economic growth and keep average Americans from getting ahead.

That’s why millions of Americans have joined the Convention of States Project. An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that reduce the number of burdensome regulations and impose limits on taxing and spending. The ultimate goal is to restore the freedom necessary for the people to flourish and give them the ability to truly govern themselves.
